  1. Hi,

    I have a question:

Would you say it is easy for a commuter to study medicine, say living about an hour away from the med school, or would you recommend moving, even in the first year?

Thankyou soo much for your time =))

  2. Hello, just wanted to ask how you decided on doing medicine and what made you choose it. Also what is the workload in the first year and please could you explain in detail what the problem based learning enatils, with an example if possible.
    Thank you very much.

  3. Thanks a lot for your feedback was very insightful. Just wanted to ask, if you have not done biology at a level but done chemistry does this make you disadvantaged in any way, although I am aware that in Lancaster you need biology to A level, in other universities you don't, e.g. Manchester. And also what was the main factor which made you choose medicine as I am finding it tough to decide whether I should do medicine or another course.
    Thank You,

  4. Hello, I have another question. What kind of prior knowledge of medicine do you need before you take the interview, and what kind of extra curricular things would you recommend doing to strengthen your UCAS application apart from the obvious work experience.
    Thank you

  5. Hi, what advice would you give on the personal statement which would make it stand out from the rest, from your own personal experiences of writing it. Also I am having trouble starting it, got any tips?

  8. Hi
I've been invited for an interview at Lancaster Medical school for the 7th of Feb and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the MMI experience was like?
I'm trying to prepare as best as I can, and thought that knowing the format of the interview would help.
Also, have you enjoyed the course at Lancaster? It looks great to me, how have you found it?

    Thanks
    Hugh

  10. Hi, I am starting at lancaster in september and i have just been looking at the curriculum and it says from year 2 onwards the course is predominately placement based at lancaster infirmary and furness hospital. However furness is an hour away from lancaster. If we are placed here are we expected to commute everyday to our placement or do we get accomodation near furness?

    Thanks!

  11. 7th May Poster - Exams are at the end of the year, with mocks after Christmas. In medicine you need to know everything, so doing modules where you can learn it then forget it doesn't really work!

Tanya - In the second and third years a bus is provided daily to Furness. In the fourth year you are provided with hospital accommodation as you're there for the majority of the week.

    Hope that's of help.
Katy (just finished year 4) x

  14. Could anybody give their opinion on the placements at LRI and FGH? Although they are smaller hospitals than the big, specialist hospitals in the big cities, do you think they are good places to be a medical student? Do you see enough of a broad spectrum of patients? Thanks

  15. Hi I'm just wondering what the university thinks to taking time off university (1 week before Christmas break) to go on a mission trip in South Africa? I have been invited to represent England with The Girls' Brigade and need to know whether I can get time off at uni? Thanks
